When you start looking for your next Mercedes-Benz, you will want to carefully consider all of the different options. Both the GLA-Class and GLC-Class have a range of models to choose from. While these two classes are incredibly similar, they have several key differences; after all, this is why they are considered separate classes. While some D’Iberville drivers will do best with the GLA, others will prefer the GLC. Take a closer look at a few key areas to see which one is right for you.
Mercedes-Benz GLA vs. GLC Size and Price
One of the first things you will notice if you park the Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLC side by side is their size difference. While both are considered small or compact SUVs, the GLC is the larger of the two by a reasonable amount. On the exterior, the GLC is 9.4 inches longer, 3.3 inches wider, and 4.5 inches taller. This translates to a maximum cargo capacity of 56.5 cubic feet in the Mercedes-Benz GLC compared to a still very good 41.8 cubes in the GLA.
Rear seat passengers in the GLC-Class will also be much more comfortable thanks to the extra legroom. However, the front seats of these SUVs are nearly identical in terms of size.
GLA vs. GLC Engines and Efficiency
The Mercedes-Benz GLC typically has a 241-horsepower 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an available 362-horsepower 3-liter turbocharged V6. The GLA-Class has the same standard engine with an available AMG version with 375 horsepower. Because the GLC is the larger of the two vehicles, it also does slightly worse in terms of fuel economy. The GLA can get up to 26 mpg combined* while the GLA gets up to 24 mpg combined*.
GLA vs. GLC Features and More
In terms of available and standard features, the GLA and GLC are nearly identical. Either gives you the luxurious MB-Tex upholstery as standard, along with plenty of front seat adjustment and HD radio. That said, the GLC does have a few more standard features, something that adds to its price tag.
